Ukraine Business Forum (QUBF) is working aggressively to organise a high-profile business event within this year in Qatar to boost economic ties by enhancing trade and investment cooperation between Qatar and Ukraine, said a top official of the business council. Over 120 business leaders from both the countries, representing a wide-range of sectors, are expected to participate at the Forum to explore new business opportunities and ways of expanding the level of bilateral cooperation between Qatar and Ukraine.
The event is expected to be held after October 2020. QUBF was planning to organise the first QatarUkraine Trade and Investment Forum in Doha in March last, in collaboration with Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) and other highly reputed institutions in Qatar and in Ukraine, which has been postponed until October this year.
“We had quite ambitious plans for this Spring. But due to current global concern we were forced to postpone Ukrainian Business Mission and Qatar-Ukraine Investment Forum until October 2020. I think that this lockdown period is not business activity put on pause. Rather, it’s time to reconsider strategies, make the necessary adjustments, which will increase the speed and ease future steps as we gradually come back to normal ’, said Dr. Olga Revina, Chairperson of QUBF, told The Peninsula in an exclusive online interview.
Dr. Olga added: “QUBF, now as a part of the business council’s improvement strategy, it has been working to continue e-dialogue with Ukrainian companies planned to take part in Qatar-Ukraine Forum and Economic Mission (more than 20 companies) in October to support them to do preliminary Qatar marker studies.”
She said that the council is also keeping an increased focus on promoting Qatar among Ukrainian business community by spreading the Qatar Opportunities & Incentives guide containing information regarding key Qatari organisations, business environment, registration policies, taxation and incentives offered by QFC, Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA), Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), Qatar Development Bank (QDB), Qatar Business Incubation Centre (QBIC), and other organisations.
It is also working to continue to form a Portfolio of QatarUkraine Projects by supervising a number of potential economically attractive projects in Food supply, IT security, Jewelry, Energy sectors, Fashion, Tourism, Construction, Innovations & Design industries, organic products.
The QUBF also fosters partnership in education by identifying Qatar and Ukraine educational institutions to establish internship, exchange and joint research opportunities, providing distinguished experts, guest-speakers and lecturers in organisational management, IT innovations, energy studies and other subjects to contribute Qatar’s national priorities in the sphere of higher learning for the benefit of the greater Qatari educational establishment.
“I personally believe that we need to tackle this present situation with positivity and productivity by opening ourselves to novel ideas and ways of looking at things, reconsider current approaches for the sake of improvement which is bound to help us convert challenges into advantages’, Dr. Olga said.
