Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar has expressed its welcome of the ceasefire announcement between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, considering it an initial step toward de-escalation. It stressed the need to build on this development urgently to prevent further escalation in the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar’s appreciation for the efforts of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, particularly those of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Armed Forces, and all parties involved in mediation and the offices that contributed to reaching the ceasefire.
The Ministry emphasized the importance of full commitment to the ceasefire announcement to ensure sustained calm and create conditions conducive to dialogue. It also stressed the need for the Islamic Republic of Iran to immediately halt all hostile actions and practices that undermine regional stability, and to respect the sovereignty of states to prevent the recurrence of such violations.
The Ministry further underscored the importance of ensuring the security of maritime routes and the freedom of navigation and international trade in accordance with international law, contributing to regional stability and the resilience of global supply chains.
The Ministry reaffirmed the State of Qatar’s firm support for all diplomatic efforts and peaceful initiatives, emphasizing that serious and responsible dialogue, along with adherence to the principles of international law and good neighborliness, remain the fundamental pillars for resolving crises and avoiding their serious repercussions on the region and the world.
