Doha: Mexican side Tigres UANL, winners of the 2020 CONCACAF Champions League, touched down in Qatar on Saturday ahead of their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.

On arrival, players and officials underwent COVID-19 testing at the airport before departing for their designated hotel.

Tigres, who defeated American side Los Angeles FC 2-1 in the CONCACAF Champions League final in Orlando in December, will enter the FIFA Club World Cup™️ at the second-round stage. They will take on AFC Champions League winners Ulsan Hyundai FC of the Korea Republic on 4 February at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium – one of two FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™️ venues being used during the tournament.

Victory for Tigres would secure a semi-final showdown with the CONMEBOL Libertadores champions on 7 February at Education City Stadium. Brazilian clubs SE Palmeiras and Santos FC will contest the Copa Libertadores final on 30 January for the chance to join the tournament in Qatar.
