Doha, Qatar: The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) reminded the public that they have the right to withdraw their consent at any time and request senders to stop sending promotional messages if they no longer wish to receive them.
“First, contact the senders. If they do not respond to your request or continue sending the messages, you can submit a complaint with the Personal Data Privacy Protection Department at the National Cyber Security Agency,” the Agency stated.
NCSA asked to “check your consent” and “did you agree to receive promotional messages?” before stating that “organizations should obtain your explicit consent before sending electronic direct marketing messages promotional email, promotional SMS, promotional calls.
If the organisation doesn't respond or resolve your complaint, the NCSA outlined steps to submit a complaint to the Personal Data Privacy Protection Department (PDPPD), within the National Cyber Security Agency, which are:
- Access the guidelines and complaint form.
- Complete the Complaints Form and review the information before submitting it.
- Send the completed form to the Personal Data Privacy Protection Department for review and the necessary action.
