Speaking to The Peninsula on the sidelines of the event, Deputy Chairman of the Qatar Society of Engineers, Eng Ahmed Alsumaiti noted that the QIFMCE and LEPEX conference is being held for the first time at the international level, aiming to provide a platform to discuss key challenges and explore practical solutions.

“Industry specialists, service providers, and technology innovators are all gathered in one place to share insights, exchange knowledge, and collaborate on advancing the sector,” he said.

“By bringing these experts together to connect and discuss the challenges in facility management, the expectation is to generate practical solutions that can be implemented to reduce operational costs, enhance efficiency, and make buildings more sustainable for future generations.”

The Deputy Chairman stressed that the conference will focus on the transition from traditional systems to digitalised solutions and how these technologies can optimise operations, reduce costs, and improve efficiency in tasks such as maintenance. “Discussions will also cover the role of AI, as well as emerging technologies like drones and 3D printing, and how they can enhance existing systems such as Property Management Systems (PMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS),” he said.

Alsumaiti said all sessions will feature technical papers and presentations, with over 40 SMEs and industry experts participating and more than 40 technical papers being discussed. “The programme is designed to focus on practical, technical aspects, encouraging dialogue on real-world solutions. Additionally, service providers will be present to demonstrate what can be realistically implemented on the ground, ensuring that discussions go beyond theory to actionable practices,” he added.
