Doha, Qatar: A curated, non-ranked list of business leaders making an impact across the MENA region's markets has included top executives of nine Qatar-based companies.
CNBC Arabia has launched its list of 'Top 100 Leaders' list for the Gulf and Egypt for 2026, aiming to highlight the movers and shakers of the region. The list covers seven markets and eleven sectors, including energy, banking, real estate, telecom, and FinTech.
The Group CEOs and Managing Directors from Qatar featured in the list are Abdulla Mubarak Al-Khalifa, Group CEO of Qatar National Bank; Bassel Gamal, Group CEO of Qatar Islamic Bank; Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, Group CEO of Ooredoo; Sheikh Hamad Abdulla Jassim Al-Thani, CEO of Vodafone Qatar; Eng Abdullah Fadhalah Al Sulaiti, CEO of Qatar Gas Transport Company; Dr Abdulbasit Ahmad Al Shaibei, CEO of Qatar International Islamic Bank; Eng Ahmad Mohamed Al-Tayeb, Group CEO of Barwa Real Estate; Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal Al Thani, Vice Chairman and MD of Aamal Company; and Mohammed Ismail Al Emadi, Group CEO of Lesha Bank.
The leaders were assessed across five criteria, namely financial performance, market impact, innovation, governance and resilience - the last one measuring performance sustained through a full economic cycle.
CNBC Arabia, in a statement, said, "eligible leaders should have led a company headquartered in or with significant operations across the MENA region and have served in their role for at least one year."
It further added that this list is not a classification of best leaders but rather a compilation of businessmen who are making a difference and creating a sustainable economic value beyond their institutions.
