Doha: Al Sadd's Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah stressed on the importance of his team’s Qatar Cup 2020 final win over Al Duhail, describing it as ‘motivation’.
“We have achieved a great victory over a great team, and winning the championship will be the best motivation for the team to continue competing for the rest of the titles of the season and the league,” Bounedjah said after the match.
The Man of the Match winner added: “The Al-= Sadd players showed responsibility during the match. I am very happy that I scored two goals, and I am happier with the team’s performance in the whole match, given the high pressure that the players implemented throughout the two halves of the match.”
Regarding the coach Xavi Hernandez, Bounedjah said: “Xavi has a great role with the team, and we work as a family. Xavi’s stay with the team contributed to the excellent performance in the match, and we will now work during the next stage to give our best at home and in Asia.”
Meanwhile, Al Sadd’s Qatari international Hassan Al Haydos said in his remarks after the match: “We are very happy to win the game and to be crowned as Qatar Cup champions. We played an intense game and we managed to clinch it from the beginning. I thank the Al Sadd players for their efforts throughout the match.”
