Qatari Forum for Authors recently launched the “Your Linguistics” initiative, which was prepared and presented by Dr. Abdullah Faraj Al Marzouqi and the linguist Dr. Ahmed Al Janabi.
The initiative spotlights the Arabic language in contemporary life and how the Arabic language is valid in our time and environments, in addition to how the language has impacted the people by highlighting its strengths and future indicators.
In its first episode, the initiative discussed the Arabic language in the articles of the constitution and the constitution of the State of Qatar, specifically the Arabic language protection law, introducing the Arab countries’ interest in codifying the norms of the constitution in the Arabic language, which stipulated that Arabic is the official language in the country, including the clarification of the significance of the legal text, its dimensions, and practices in language policies through legislation and laws.
Dr. Ahmed Al Janabi said that linguistics is an old and new subject since there are new movements that fundamentally serve the Arabic language and the Arabic text to explore better Arabic linguistic reality.
For his part, Dr. Abdullah Faraj Al Marzouqi affirmed that the initiative comes within the efforts of the forum to revive fluency, indicating that the state of Qatar spared no effort to safeguard and enhance the Arabic language through the educational and cultural institutions, pointing out to the essential role played by academies of Arab language whose number reached 15 academies the last one is in Makkah Al Mukarama, the first one was established in Damascus in 1919.
He added that the political transformations experienced by the Arab world do not necessarily mean breaking with the Arab cultural heritage since Arabic literature has overcome the entire challenges and difficulties and continued, notwithstanding the Agnostic literature still occupies a vital position.
