The Qatari drivers displayed a commendable show in the UAE.
Doha: Three Qatar Motorsport Academy students, Bader Al Sulaiti (Senior Max Class), Taha Hassiba (Senior Max Class) and Tameem Hassiba (Junior Max Class), took part in the Rotax Max Challenge UAE Rounds 5.1 and 5.2 where they displayed impressive performances.
For the Qatari drivers, the event which took place at the famed Yas Marina Formula 1 Circuit, was their second and third ever professional races in careers.
Al Sulaiti was the lead driver of the group, finishing P8 in the final on the first day, beating out much more experienced drivers. The young driver finished seven seconds off the leader, showing he will soon be a force to be reckoned with.
On the second day, he finished a respectable P11, both days finishing top rookie, and beating out many more experienced drivers.
Taha Hassiba had a more difficult weekend, but still drove impeccably throughout the event, finishing both days with a P13.
Tameem Hassiba, the youngest of the trio, had some problems through the weekend.
On the first day, he finished in 28th position following some contact and thereafter damaging his kart. He failed to finish the race on the second day .
Besides, Hassiba showed decent pace and signs of progress.
The Qatar Motorsports Academy is nurturing the trio while providing them with chance to compete in one the most competitive championships in the region.
