Doha: Qatar's National Cybersecurity Agency has issued a warning to Android users after Google announced the discovery of a critical security vulnerability affecting devices running Android-based operating systems.

According to Google, the flaw is particularly dangerous because it requires no user interaction -- a so-called 'Zero Click' vulnerability. Attackers could exploit it simply by sending a malicious data packet over a telecommunications network, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth, allowing them to execute harmful commands remotely.

NCSA strongly recommended all Android users to install the latest security updates as soon as they are made available by their device manufacturers to minimise risks.

Affected versions: Version 13, 14, 15, and 16

• Google also issued several key recommendations to help protect users and organisations:

• Install the latest patch: Update to the 2025-11-01 security level in device settings.

• Enable auto-updates: Turn on both system and Google Play updates for faster protection.

• Avoid sideloading apps: Download software only from trusted sources like Google Play.

• Use Play Protect: Keep it active to automatically scan for harmful apps.

• Stay on secure networks: Avoid unsecured Wi-Fi and be alert for unusual device behaviour.

The National Cybersecurity Agency emphasized that regular updates, safe usage practices, and ongoing vigilance are essential to protect both personal and enterprise data.
