Former Fulham FC coach Slavisa Jokanovic was yesterday unveiled as the new manager for Al Gharafa SC.
At a press conference held at the club premises, the 50-year-old Serbian promised to help the former Qatar Stars League (QSL) side to glory in the new season.
Jokanovic, after signing a two-year deal, said yesterday: “My goal is to improve the team’s results and make better compared to last season. The QSL is among the strongest leagues in Asia.”
He added: “We have a great bunch of players and a positive management. We have ample time to work together before the start of the season. We promise fans that we will try to improve our side on a technical level. We know our fans want to start winning but remember it takes time to get support from everybody and to achieve the dreams of the fans of the club.”
Last season, Al Gharafa finished in 8th spot winning only seven matches from 22 rounds.
In a stunning run of dominance, Al Gharafa produced three back-to-back QSL titles from 2007 to 2010.
The seven-time league winners haven’t won a trophy since that season.
The new QSL season will commence next month.
