Doha: Qatar’s pair of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan jumped to fourth position in the global beach volleyball rankings, according to the latest standings issued by FIVB yesterday.

The duo improved their ranking after accumulating 5,520 points following their silver medal run at the Sochi 4-star stop on the 2021 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.

Younousse and Tijan are now just 160 points behind Rio 2016 Olympic champion Alison Cerutti and team-mate Álvaro Filho of Brazil, who are third in the rankings.

A medal in Sochi was Qatar team’s eighth medal including two gold, three silver and as many bronze medals on the World Tour.

Meanwhile, Norway’s Anders Mol and Christian Sørum lead the world rankings with 7,760 points, followed by Russia’s Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovskiy on second position with 6060 points.
