Doha, Qatar: Fire Station, in partnership with Qatar Creates Talks, will host Creative Infrastructures: Spaces for Experimentation on September 1, a public panel discussion considering how creative development programmes can support artists, designers and other practitioners as they build sustainable creative careers in Qatar.
Taking place from 6pm to 7:30pm at the Fire Station Auditorium, the discussion will look at how creative development programmes support artists and designers beyond the production of finished work, from providing mentorship and peer learning to creating opportunities for research, experimentation and collaboration across disciplines.
The talk is part of Qatar Museums’ Fall/Winter 2026 season which features a programme of exhibitions, talks and cultural events across its museums and creative hubs.
Head of Academic and Community Programmes at Fire Station Rose Lejeune said: “While Artists Intensive Study Programme (AISP) is the starting point for this conversation, the bigger question is what artists and creatives actually need around them to experiment and grow. I’m looking forward to hearing from others working across education and the creative sector here in Doha, and thinking together about how these different spaces can support artists in ever better ways.”
The panel features Museologist at Katara Art Centre Dr. Elina Sairanen; Acting Head of Public Programmes Section at M7 Marrackech Elizabeth Arbuckle; and Maryam Al-Homaid, Artist and Associate Professor at VCUarts Qatar, with Head of Academic and Community Programmes at Fire Station Rose Lejeune, moderating the discussion.
Held during the open call for Fire Station’s AISP, which closes on 5 September, the panel considers the broader significance of creative development initiatives within Qatar’s evolving cultural landscape.
The panel will also address how continued investment in people, knowledge and creative exchange can contribute to a more connected, resilient and sustainable cultural ecosystem, while creating stronger opportunities for artists and practitioners to develop their work over the long term.
Creative Infrastructures: Spaces for Experimentation will be held in English and is open to audiences aged 18 and above. Interested attendees can register free of charge via Qatar Creates website. This panel is presented in partnership with Qatar Creates Talks.
