An online workshop on ‘Economics’ was organised by Qatar Debate organisation recently via Cisco Webex.
A team of DPS-MIS students -- Anah Zahra Asim Merchant, Anoop Haridoss, Vishwa Bhaveshkumar Vekariya, Prithwiraj Purkait, Sheba Binu John, Manjushree Magesh, Kaaviya Ramesh Kumar, Govind Krishna, Ishita Golash, Venus Rinith, Muhammad Zajir Rawther along with their teachers Steffi Francis, Malathi Mahalingam and Jaya Majumder attended the workshop with full enthusiasm. Qatar Debate coach and instructor Abdur Rehman conducted the workshop.
The debaters were introduced to the basics of Economics in an innovative manner by the instructor. A topic for discussion was given and the students got to know and learnt to think from individual, government and international point of view. They learnt the three different types of taxes from government aspect and their advantages and disadvantages.
They used economics in debating making the arguments reasonable and convincing. Overall the students enjoyed the session gaining knowledge about economics and how best they can incorporate in their arguments while debating.
