Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE)
Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has announced the operating schedule for its student registration and transfer centres in preparation for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The centres will receive parents and guardians from July 5 to August 13, 2026, operating daily from 8am to 2pm, to facilitate student registration and transfers in government schools during the summer holiday.
The ministry said the initiative is aimed at streamlining admission and transfer procedures and ensuring easier access to services for parents ahead of the start of the new academic year. To accommodate applicants efficiently, dedicated registration centres have been assigned for male and female visitors.
Male applicants will be served at Al Ahnaf Bin Qais Preparatory School for Boys and Ali Bin Abi Talib Preparatory School for Boys, while female applicants will be received at Abu Hanifa Model School for Boys and Moza Bint Mohammed Preparatory School for Girls.
The ministry has also provided QR codes for each centre to help parents and guardians easily navigate to the designated locations.
In addition to in-person services, the ministry continues to provide several digital services, including early electronic registration for government schools, early electronic student transfers, and other online registration and transfer services to make the process more convenient for families.
The ministry explained that government schools will admit new students from several approved categories. These include children of Qatari fathers and Qatari mothers, children of citizens of GCC member states, and children holding Qatari travel documents.
Eligibility also extends to children of non-Qatari employees working in ministries, government entities, public authorities and institutions, as well as those employed by charitable associations and private charitable organisations.
Admission is also available for children of holders of permanent residency or real estate residency permits who enjoy the same privileges as permanent residents. The ministry noted that these applicants may enrol in the academic year following the issuance of the residency card, provided their children are under 18 years of age at the start of the academic year. The admission policy further includes children of diplomats serving at embassies and administrative staff seconded by their respective governments.
The ministry added that children of private-sector employees residing in villages and areas outside Doha where private schools are unavailable, or where the required educational stage is not offered, may also be admitted to government schools. The eligible areas are determined according to ministerial circulars, and such students are not eligible for transfer to government schools in Doha or other locations where suitable private schools are available.
MoEHE also confirmed that non-Arabic-speaking students who fall within the approved admission categories may enrol in government schools, provided they successfully pass an Arabic language assessment. Based on the results, students will be placed in specialised Arabic language support programmes designed to strengthen their language skills and facilitate their academic integration.
For students transferring between government schools, the ministry stated that parents must provide the student’s valid Qatari ID card, the guardian’s valid Qatari ID card, and proof of residence through either a recent electricity and water certificate indicating the residence number or a valid tenancy agreement.
The ministry urged parents and guardians to complete registration and transfer procedures within the announced period to ensure students are enrolled before the beginning of the 2026-2027 academic year.
