Doha, Qatar: The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, issued Ministerial Decision No. 34 of 2026 promulgating a guide to describing and classifying the jobs of the diplomatic and consular corps.
The decision forms part of a broader effort to develop and strengthen the institutional framework of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is designed to organize career pathways through clarity of duties and responsibilities, improve performance efficiency, enhance accountability, and embed effective performance among members of both corps across the Ministry's General Directorate and the State's diplomatic missions abroad.
The Guide serves as an organizational reference for members of the diplomatic and consular corps, standardising procedures and clarifying career pathways within the Ministry's General Directorate and representative missions.
It provides accurate and comprehensive descriptions of positions and job titles, supporting professional development, improving performance efficiency, defining responsibilities, and facilitating recruitment and career development processes — while ensuring alignment with the Ministry's organizational structure.
