DOHA: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance, will organise a Sama’ session on Imam Al-Tirmidhi’s Shama’il Muhammadiyyah on Saturday, August 29, at Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Thani Mosque (MS 1234) in Al Furousiya.

The session is part of the ministry’s efforts to strengthen the community’s connection with the Prophetic Sunnah, promote love for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and raise religious awareness. It will feature specialists in Hadith and Prophetic biography.

The session will be attended by Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud Al Mahmoud, a Sharia expert at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and Dr. Adel Hassan Al-Harani, Professor of Hadith at Qatar University. They will present selected portions of Shama’il Muhammadiyyah, one of the most prominent classical works devoted to describing the Prophet’s physical characteristics, noble character and conduct.

Sama’ gatherings represent a longstanding scholarly tradition in Islamic civilisation, through which scholars across generations transmitted religious texts and Hadith in gatherings of learning and knowledge.

Such sessions bring together students of knowledge and members of the public to listen to religious texts transmitted through connected chains of narration, creating an environment that combines learning, spiritual refinement and scholarly engagement.

The gatherings also contribute to preserving the Islamic scholarly heritage and connecting contemporary generations with authentic sources of religious knowledge.

They promote systematic learning, a sound understanding of the Prophetic Sunnah, and the values of following the Prophet PBUH in conduct, character and daily interactions.

The Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance said the sessions provide an opportunity to reflect on the life and noble characteristics of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, strengthening love for him and translating that love into practical conduct and human and ethical values that positively benefit individuals and society.
