Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has concluded the “Riwaq Al-Diyaa” summer educational camp, bringing together 62 Qatari and resident students aged 14 to 18 in a programme designed to strengthen their connection with the Holy Quran while nurturing their values, skills and sense of national identity.
The closing ceremony was attended by Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater, along with ministry officials, supervisors, parents, students and media representatives.
Held from August 9 to 26 at Ezdan Hotel under the supervision of the ministry’s Committee for Developing and Enhancing Quran and Arabic Language Education, the camp sought to make productive use of students’ summer vacation by providing an integrated educational and developmental environment.
The programme focused on helping participants memorise the Holy Quran to high levels of proficiency, while also developing their faith, character and ethical conduct. It sought to instil Quranic values in students’ daily lives, strengthen brotherhood and positive companionship, and encourage young people to channel their talents and energies towards achievement and constructive engagement.
The camp was built around a comprehensive educational vision aimed at developing a generation that not only memorises the Quran, but understands and applies its teachings while taking pride in its values and national identity.
Its core programme featured several levels of Quran memorisation and revision, supported by daily follow-up, periodic assessments and motivational competitions. Students also took part in an academic programme comprising lectures, educational sessions and guest appearances, as well as a dedicated educational programme addressing faith, Quranic values, ethics, identity, belonging and positive role models.
The camp also incorporated a range of sporting and recreational activities, including swimming, football and tennis, alongside educational trips, cultural programmes and group activities. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Chairman of the Committee for Developing and Enhancing Quran and Arabic Language Education Dr. Sultan Al Hashemi, stressed the importance of such camps in strengthening young people’s relationship with the Holy Quran and reinforcing Quranic values and morals.
He said the programme contributed to improving students’ memorisation and revision skills while developing their abilities, faith, behaviour and spirit of brotherhood. He also praised the ministry’s support for the initiative and its efforts to make productive use of young people’s summer vacation.
The event concluded with the ministry honouring the participating students and camp supervisors.
