Doha: Qatar University Young Scientist Center (QU-YSC) launches a new cycle of December Aladaam Initiative, which is a unique initiative that aims to enhance national values and identity in addition to highlighting the scientific studies and spreading the research culture.
The first cycle of this initiative started in 2020, when all events and celebrations of the National Day were transferred to the digital platforms, during the peak of the Coronavirus. The initiative included participants from all colleges and departments at Qatar University to celebrate the Qatar National Day, by publishing a group of short films on social media and YouTube in December.
The successes of the first edition, prompted another edition last year highlighting the research projects at QU related to the Qatari environment and culture.
December Aladaam Initiative for this year will present QU’s studies and scientific researches related to innovation and sustainability in sports and Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 World Cup. It also focuses on presenting the scientific contributions made by QU to provide a distinctive football experience and to guarantee comfort and safety for the fans from different countries during the World Cup.
The first stages of preparation for the initiative began by coordinating with colleges, departments and research centers to submit their research proposals, in order to be displayed in the form of short films. The proposals include variable topics in the fields of engineering, transportation, medicine and technology.
Prof. Noora Al Thani, Director of QU-YSC, said: “At the center, we are always keen to spread the culture of scientific research and highlight the role of Qatar University in developing researches and scientific studies. This is to achieve the goals and objectives of the university and support the Qatar’s research priorities and Qatar National Vision 2030.
“Therefore, we dedicate our efforts every year to launch December Aladaam initiative, which will highlight research projects for all university departments and develop a spirit of loyalty and pride of the national identity.”
