With an objective to further teaching skills and strategies coupled with the latest and innovative methods in teaching and learning, MES Indian School conducted a three-day in-service cum orientation programme for its teachers from August 20-22, 2019.
Inaugurating the session, Hameeda Kadar, Principal of the school, accentuated the importance of acquiring vital information about the teaching-learning process and the need for effective use of knowledge imparted from such orientation programmes.
She also urged the teachers the need to reinvent themselves in terms of assuming and effecting the right form of outlook both in general and in their profession and urged them to update teaching strategies to lead students to the ever-changing demands and expectations of the world today.
A total of 320 teachers attended the session with Aman Sood, an experienced professional in ed-tech as the resource person for the topics, “Professional Development Plan’ and ‘Touch DS’, and Meenakshi Uberoi, Pearson Education, specialized in conducting workshop dealt with topics related to inclusive learning and effective teaching methods for 21st century learners.
A power-point enabled session was carried out by Jency George, Department of English, on classroom management styles and strategies, while the Department of Counselling, dealt with managing stress and effective communication. In the fitness session for body and soul conducted by the Physical Education Department, teachers were given yoga training and general health tips to be followed.
An ERP training session in the new study modules was conducted by the ICT Department of the school. Teachers of various subjects were involved in the sessions on teaching methodologies and strategies during the department wise meetings organized at various venues of the school.
The three-day in-service programme on professional development witnessed interactive sessions, in which teachers enthusiastically participated in various enriching activities on scholastic and co-scholastic domains to enhance their classroom interactions besides receiving guidance and pointers for effective curriculum transaction. Sudheesh, Department of Physics coordinated the teachers’ orientation programme.
