Al Razi School wins tourney

DOHA: Al Razi School beat Ali Bin Taleb School by 10 wickets to win a cricket tournament, organised by Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) at the Cricket Stadium.

Al Razi School were set a target of 28 runs after their opponents were bowled all out 27. 

Al Razi School opened their innings with captain Khalid Ansari and Houzaifa Sallam, and the openers eased to their target in five overs.

After the final, prizes were distributed Manzoor Ahmad, General Secretary and other QCA Officials - Malik Nazar Mohd (Technical Advisor) and Gul Khan, Head of Domestic Cricket, Hussain Al Salat, Co-ordinator Ali Bin Taleb School.

Last year, QCA, who were supported and encouraged by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Qatar Olympic Committee began a coaching programme for Al Razi school pupils for two months. 

The school pupils being taught by QCA coaches Tahir Mahmood and Abdul Salam as well as Malik Naza Mohd, Technical Advisor and Senior coach, in co-operation with the school’s prinicipal and sports teacher Tamer Misbah.

The school pupils then received their coaching classes twice a week in the Cricket Stadium (near the Industrial area) after ACC Development Officers Vinky Parashad and Iqbal Sikander was satisfied with the coaching regime. 

QCA also began a coaching programme for Ali Bin Taleb Independent School (Airport Area), Doha Preparatory School (Abu Hamour) and Al Emam Al Shafa School (Maither), with the backing of their sports teachers. The programme was organised by Ahmad. 

Ahmad encouraged the young boys to play more cricket and stressed there is an opportunity for top talented players to play in the Gulf and the ACC competitions. THE PENINSULA
