Doha, Qatar: MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education, the Qatar Campus of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune, has officially announced the launch of its prestigious Bachelor of Education (BEd) Degree Programme in Qatar.
This two-year, programme marks a significant step in bringing high-quality teacher education to the region, addressing the growing demand for qualified educators.
Savitribai Phule Pune University, one of India’s top-ranked public universities, enjoys global recognition for its academic excellence and its strong commitment to teacher education. The BEd degree offered at its Qatar Campus will carry the same distinction, being recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi, as well as the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar.
The programme has been designed with the needs of working professionals in mind. Delivered through a hybrid model, it combines online learning with face-to-face classes conducted in the evenings and on Saturdays. This flexible approach allows in-service teachers to pursue the qualification alongside their professional responsibilities. Importantly, the practicum requirement of the curriculum can be fulfilled by teaching in their own schools, ensuring practical application of learning without additional burden.
Another highlight of the programme is its affordability. With a highly subsidised fee of only QR12,000 per year — a total of QR24,000 for the entire two years — and the option to pay in up to four instalments, the university has ensured that cost is not a barrier to pursuing this globally recognised qualification.
The curriculum is aligned with India’s National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and has been enriched with several new modules to prepare educators for the 21st-century classroom. These include yoga education, health and wellness, digital learning, community engagement, educational research projects, drama and art in education, and mentoring in education.
