Doha, Qatar: Last week, Arabic language courses for non-native speakers were launched for the general public in the country and for diplomatic missions working here.

In addition, an external course was launched in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in coordination with the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the University of Sarajevo, attended by hundreds of the faculty’s students.

Through these Arabic language courses for non-native speakers, the Center aims to enhance the ability of non-Arabic-speaking audiences to communicate with the local community and to learn about its culture.

The Center also seeks to strengthen ties with foreign academic institutions by organising effective courses that highlight the Center’s role and help those institutions improve their students’ Arabic language proficiency.

The general Arabic language courses include the conversation level and Level One (sections A and B), offered for both men and women.

As for the diplomatic courses, the programme for the Embassy of Senegal is ongoing, while a course for the Embassy of Gabon has started, and another for the Embassy of Spain in the country is being launched.

Meanwhile, Arabic language lectures continue for students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the University of Sarajevo.

The current programme is the second such course for the faculty, organised in coordination with the Center. It aims to improve the conversational abilities of students of Islamic sciences and to strengthen their skills in other language areas, ensuring they gain proper access to Islamic heritage in its original Arabic language.
