ADEN, Yemen: Two soldiers were killed in southern Yemen on Tuesday in an ambush by Al-Qaeda militants, according to a local security source.

A military vehicle overturned after coming under fire in the southern Abyan province, leaving two soldiers dead, the source told Anadolu Agency, speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to media.

He went on to note that several other soldiers had been injured in the attack without providing an exact number.

The Yemeni government has yet to issue an official statement confirming the ambush.

Since Al-Qaeda lost Abyan to government forces last August, the group has continued to carry out sporadic attacks on security personnel deployed in the area.
