The surge in electric vehicle awareness in Qatar gained momentum following the FIFA World Cup 2022, where the deployment of electric buses and taxis left an indelible mark on both tourists and locals alike. Collaborating with international automakers, the country has forged partnerships to introduce a range of electric and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) to Qatar's landscape.
Qatar's Ministry of Transport is steadfast in its commitment to a fully electric public bus system by 2030. The nation triumphantly achieved its 2022 milestone, converting 25% of its public transit bus fleet to electric power. Now, with an eye on the future, the ministry aims to transition 35% of its total vehicle fleet and achieve 100% electrification of public transport buses by 2030.
