Doha: Qatar shooters have set their eyes on winning many medals at the upcoming Asian Games in Indonesia an official of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association (QSAA) said here yesterday.
Ali Al Kuwari, President of QSAA, said that Qatari shooters preperation for the Asian games is moving in the right direction as they will be taking part in the different preparatory camps ahead of the Asian Games will take place in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from August 18 to September 2.
The QSAA official said Qatar aims to win many in all shooting competitions in Indonesia and added that the names of shooters who will represent Qatar at the Asian Games will be announced in the coming days.
The Qatari delegation will see over 250 Team Qatar athletes participate across 30 different sports, including over 40 females, at one of the biggest multi-sport events in the world.
The QSAA President said that the Qatari shooters have achieved many good results at the international level, thanks to the constant exposure of the national teams, both men and women, in different international competitions.
He said the foreign exposure has helped the national team to compete strongly and acquire international expertise by competing against the world’s best shooters in top notch tournaments.
The QSAA President stressed that the association is interested in age groups and is working towards preparing for further challenges.
He said that the QSAA possesses high quality facilities that meet all international specifications at the Lusail Shooting Complex, which he said is now ready to host any world championship.
Al Kuwari thanked Qatar Olympic Committee for its continuous support for the activities organized by the association and in which QSAA takes part in local and international events.
He added that the period following the Asian Games will be a busy one for the Qatari shooters as they will be participating in many regional, local and international competitions with an eye to win qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
