Al Duhail look to consolidate top spot

QNB Stars League (QSL) leaders Al Duhail will be eyeing to consolidate their top spot when they clash with Qatar SC in their Round 12 clash on January 4.  

Al Duhail team succeeded in ending the first half of the QSL season in the top place with 29 points that came from 9 victories and 2 draws  from their 11 games. 

Al Rayyan (25 points) and Al Gharafa (20) occupy the next two spots while reigning champions Al Sadd are fourth with 18 points but they have two more games in hands. Al Duhail coach Rui Faria (pictured) said his team face a difficult challenge in the second half of the season. 

“We focus on our work in each match and I think that the team have a lot of work in the upcoming period,” said Faria.

In the beginning of the league Al Duhail team won over Qatar SC and tied games with Al Arabi and Al Rayyan.  

Al Duhail defeated Al Wakrah Al Shahania,  Al Sailiya, Umm Salal,  Al Gharafa,  Al Sadd, Al Khor and  Al Ahli in their next matches. 

Mohamed Muntari is the  top scorer for Al Duhail with 6 goals. 

Asian Cup star Al Moez Ali and Youssef Msakni  have scored four goals each while Edmilson Da Silva , Karim Boudiaf and Ismael Mohamed struck two goals apiece for the Red Knights. 

Ahmed Yasser, Ali Afif, Khaled Mohamed and Mohanad Ali scored one goal each.
