VALENCIA: Qatar juniors are hoping to start their Cotif Cup 2018 campaign on a winning note as they take on hosts Valencia in their opening match of the tournament today.
A victory in the opening match will boost Qatar’s confidence in the event as they are scheduled to meet tough teams during the tournament.
After their opening game against Valencia, Qatar will play Uruguay in their second match on July 30 followed by a clash against Morocco, a day later.
Russia will be Qatar’s final opponents in the tournament on August 2.
The event which is starting today will conclude on August 8.
The tournament features as many as 10 teams including Argentina, Mauritania, Murcia and Venezuela.
The COTIF tournament, originally known as L’Alcúdia International Under-20 Football Tournament, is an annual football competition for youth teams, open to both clubs and national and autonomous teams.
Qatar juniors are preparing for the AFC Asian Cup to be held in Indonesia from October 18 to November 4.
