AAB Chess Open U-16 gets underway

Doha: Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros. Co. W.L.L. (AAB), the exclusive distributor of Toyota and Lexus in Qatar, began the AAB Chess Open U-16 in collaboration with Qatar Chess Association (QCA). 

Around 175 Chess enthusiasts U-16 years old joined and participated in the first 11 Rounds of Blitz Chess played on the online platform lichess.org.

The top 32 players will move on to the Finals to be held on April 2 from which the Top 4 participants will play during the last knock-out Round on April 9.

Mohammed Al Mudahka, QCA President was present during the opening of the games monitored online from the Sakura Lounge of the Lexus Building. The Tournament Arbiters are International Arbiter (IA) Freyd, Laurent (France) as the Chief Arbiter with IA Baralic, Nebojsa (Serbia) and IA Srebrnic, Ana (Slovenia) as Deputy Arbiters.

With its strong partnership with QCA, AAB is dedicated in promoting Chess among the community especially the youth.  It has opened the first FIDE Rated tournament in Qatar in 2018 and continues to pursue creative means to bring the sports to different platforms. 

Qatar Streaming has joined as a live stream partner which will be the first streaming in Qatar for chess.
