Doha: Qatar Central Bank (QCB) confirmed in statement that what was circulated on social media regarding ATM withdrawal limit is incorrect, local media reported today.
A notice claiming to be from QCB, circulated on social media, falsely stated that the maximum daily cash withdrawal through automatic teller machines will be reduced to QR 5,000 per day.
Arabic media quoted QCB statement and said that what was being circulated on social media is a forged circular that was not issued by QCB and is nothing but a rumor.
The bank stressed the need to obtain information from official sources, not to share news and circulars issued by unknown parties or individuals and stressed that it maintains the legal right to sue whoever broadcast this rumor and promotes it.
