BEIRUT: Qatar secured the third place in the Asia Rugby Championship 2018 Division III (West) when they overpowered Jordan 25-11 in their play-off match yesterday.
At the Fouad Chehab Stadium in Beirut, Lebanon, Bader Bakaddouri looked unstoppable as he went on to score four tries during yesterday’s match.
Andor Benyi made one conversion and added two more points through a penalty to round up Qatar’s score.
For the losing side, Ibrahim Izmigna scored a try and Firas Dar Khalifeh added the rest of the points through two penalties.
In the Cup final played yesterday, Lebanon beat Iran in a thriller which saw the hosts scoring 29-17 after the teams were tied at 10-all at half time play.
Alongside the Asia Rugby Championship Division III West competition, a women’s sevens tournament also took place this week in Beirut.
Qatar took part in the tournament which also saw two Lebanese teams and Syria competing on Wednesday and Thursday.
Qatari women were the eventual winners of the tournament beating Lebanon Red in the final.
