Doha: Qatar beach volleyball duo of Janko Ahmed and Samba Cherif defeated Chinese pair of Gao Peng and Li Yang 2-0 to book a place in the final of the Asian Games event.

In Palembang, Qatar won 21-18 and 26-24 and will take on Indonesia in the gold medal match tomorrow.

Meanwhile in the boxing competition, Qatar’s Thulasimaaran Tharumalingam qualified for the quarer-finals in the Men’s Welter (69kg).

Thulasi defeated Nepal’s Bishnu Prasad 5-0 and qualified for the next stage where he will face Jordan’s Zeyad Eashash on Tuesday.

In Basketball 3x3, Qatar lost to China 21-18.

In volleyball, Qatar team beat Myanmar 3-0 (25-21, 25-18 and 25-20).

The equestrian events will continue today at the Asian Games and the Qatari jockeys will participate in the teams’ jumping competitions.

Abderrahman Samba who topped the Men’s 400m hurdles heats with a timing of 49.34secs will be seen in action in the final round today.
