Doha, Qatar: The stage is set for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Challenger Cup which will kick off tomorrow at the Aspire Sports Hall in Doha, Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) announced yesterday. The three-day tournament will feature eight teams, including Tunisia, Chile, Dominican Republic, Turkey, Ukraine, China, Thailand and hosts Qatar.

QVA Secretary-General and the Tournament Director Youssef Ahmed Kanoo and QVA Board Member Saeed Al Hitmi, revealed the detailed of the tournament during a press conference in which Oscar Jumbo Electronics Company was revealed as the official sponsors of the championship. Kanoo affirmed the Association's keenness to make the event a big success and bring out the tournament in the best way.

Al Hitmi said that the Qatar team will be aiming to put up a top show against some of the tough teams from different continents. He also said that the event will also help Qatar prepare for the upcoming events, the most important of which is the upcoming Asian Championship to be hosted by Iran, as well as the Asian Games qualifiers and the Olympic Games qualifiers.

The tournament will begin with a clash between Tunisia and Chile tomorrow. Qatar will also begin their campaign the same day against Thailand.

The quarter-final stage matches will conclude with a meeting between Turkey and the Dominican Republic. The semi-finals will be held on Saturday and the final on Sunday.
