Al Malki clinches Qatar Asian Junior Open title

Doha: Salem Al Malki emerged as the boys U-19 champion in the The Qatar Asian Junior Squash Open, hosted by the Qatar Tennis & Squash Federation in cooperation with its Asian counterpart, yesterday.

The championship was held over five days with the participation of the best players from the continent.

Al Malki beat compatriot Youssef Essam 11-5, 11-5, 11-3 in the final. 

Qatar's Youssef Essam finished as the runner-up in the U-19 category. In the boys U-13 category, Iran’s Ali Kari was the winner while Qatar’s Talal Al Badr was the runners-up.

In the boys under-11 section, Iran’s Arashek Ahmadabadi won the title. India’s Krishna Nishna won in the under-17 category while Pakistan’s Azan won the title for the boys category under-15.

“We congratulate the players winning the titles of this tournament, and we thank them for the level they showed during these competitions,” said Tariq Zainal, Secretary-General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation.
