Damascus: The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has dispatched a new overland relief convoy to Syria, in cooperation with the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Damascus and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, which will receive the aid shipment and distribute it to the most in-need beneficiaries according to the established operational plan.
The QRCS stated in a press release Tuesday that the relief convoy consists of eight large trucks carrying 34 tons of medical, food, and non-food aid, with an estimated total value of approximately QAR 4.2 million.
The convoy departed from its warehouses in Doha earlier this month, traveling overland through the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to reach the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The list of aid includes medical devices and equipment to support Syrian healthcare facilities, medical assistive devices for persons with disabilities, and thousands of daily-use medical consumables for healthcare operations.
It also contains more than 30,000 units of essential medicines, including antibiotics, painkillers, respiratory medications, and topical treatments, in addition to maternal and child health supplies.
The shipment also comprises large quantities of winter clothing exceeding 65,000 pieces for men, women, and children, alongside essential food items including half a ton of olive oil, as well as other living and shelter supplies.
