Angolan professional Gelson Dala struck a superb hat-trick for Al Wakrah (70', 76' and 86'), Adel Alawi Al Sulimane scored for Umm Salal in the 55th minute of the match.
Elsewhere, at Al Khor Stadium, Al Shamal and Al Ahli played a 2-2 draw in the other Group A match.
After the draw, third-placed Al Ahli have an overall tally of 6 points while fourth-placed Al Shamal advance to 5 points.
