The Philippine government sent another chartered flight to Doha on August 19, 2020, to bring home 317 Overseas Filipino passengers in Qatar. The repatriated passengers also included two infants.
The Filipino repatriates arrived safely in the country via a chartered flight of Philippine Airlines (PAL) and the joint cooperation of the Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO).
On its official Facebook page, the Philippine Embassy in Qatar stated that the flight is the 2nd chartered flight funded and mounted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
On August 14, the Philippine Embassy in Qatar also mounted its sixth chartered flight via PAL which brought home 323 Overseas Filipino passengers and two infants. Among the passengers of the chartered flight also include three pregnant women and eight families.
In a statement on its website, the embassy said: "Since the start of the repatriation program in May 2020, close to 3,000 overseas Filipinos (2,907 adults plus 25 infants) have already been sent home through seven chartered and two special commercial repatriation PAL flights."
Given the continued success of the repatriations of Filipinos in Qatar, the embassy also stated: "These flights from Doha were a result of close coordination between the Embassy, POLO, and relevant authorities in Qatar, such as the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, the Hamad International Airport, and Qatar Airways."
On August 12 DOLE had also successfully brought home a chartered flight for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who are members of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
