Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) safeguarded more than QR7.9 million in consumers' financial rights during the first half of 2026, according to newly released consumer protection performance indicators.
The ministry in a social media post stated that it continued to strengthen its regulatory oversight and service delivery to protect consumer rights, achieving significant results across complaint handling and market inspection activities.
During the first six months of the year, the Consumer Protection Department resolved 13,408 complaints, recording a 99.7% completion rate. Additionally, 4,395 complaints were settled amicably in favour of consumers.
The figures also showed that 96.9% of all complaints were submitted through digital channels, reflecting the growing use of the ministry's online services.
As part of its market monitoring efforts, the ministry issued 163 violation reports and conducted inspection campaigns covering 4,287 commercial establishments across the country.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said the results underscore its continued commitment to enhancing consumer protection, strengthening regulatory enforcement, and improving service delivery through digital transformation.
