Doha: Al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji), Qatar’s pioneering next generation bank, has launched contactless services across its Point of Sale (POS) machines.

The bank’s state-of-the-art Ingenico POS machines have been upgraded to accept contactless debit and credit cards, as a faster and safer way for conducting transactions.

Customers using contactless cards can easily make payments of up to QR300 with a ‘Tap and Pay’ service and any amount above QR300 using the ‘Tap and PIN’ service.

Group Chief Business Officer, Omar Al Emadi, said: “We are constantly looking for ways to innovate and integrate new technology within our sphere of operations, products, and services.

“The contactless POS services have been introduced in light of the current situation as a risk-free and safe option to help build customer confidence in a post-COVID environment,” he added.

Cardholders with the contactless symbol on their card can benefit from the contactless payment service.

To make a transaction, they simply need to tap their card on the reader on top of the POS screen.

When customer hears a ‘beep’ sound, transaction is initiated and upon transaction authorisation the receipt is printed.

al khaliji’s contactless POS machines come in line with the bank’s vision to digitise the financial service sector and come at a time when new health and safety measures have emerged in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bank, one of the fast growing banks in Qatar, continuously looks to meet the financial needs for this generation and the next, focusing on long-term sustainability by balancing a commitment towards the financial industry and to the community.
