Bahrain: Qatar Junior Handball Team lost Sunday to Saudi Arabia 24-27 in both sides' second match of Group B within the 9th edition of the Asian Junior Championship currently held in Bahrain and set to run through August 31.

This loss freezes Qatar at two points logged from a Saturday 36-22 win over the UAE while Saudi Arabia jumps to four points after they secured a 44-22 victory over Iraq in their first match.

Qatar will resume their games on Tuesday when they clash with Iraq. On Wednesday, they will face Japan and wrap up their group stage matches against Kuwait on Friday.

The top five teams in the tournament will qualify for the 2023 World Cup in Croatia.

Over their Asian Cup history, Qatar's juniors were crowned champions in 2010 and 2012, the same trophies by South Korea and Bahrain. Kuwait and Iran secured only one title each.
