Doha: Under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology will organise the third edition of Qatar ICT Conference and Exhibition (QITCOM 2014) which opens on May 26 at Qatar National Convention Centre.
Being held under the theme ‘Innovate today for the future of Qatar’, the event will focus on information and communications technology (ICT) and host local, regional and global experts who will share insights into ICT topics.
In a statement, the ministry said yesterday that QITCOM is part of its efforts to “harness the power of ICT, driving innovation well into the future, as an advanced ICT sector is crucial to a diversified economy.
“ICT supports all aspects of the development plan outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030, and is essential to realising the leadership’s vision – from sustaining economic prosperity to providing a high standard of living for all people who live and work in Qatar.”
The event provides a platform for industry leaders, innovators, ICT professionals and enthusiasts to network and create new business opportunities.
The third edition will feature an exhibition, conference, awards, competitions for entrepreneurs, contests for students and other events aimed at reflecting aspirations and growth potential of the Qatari ICT sector. ICT industry’s expansion will, in turn, reflect well on the overall economic growth of Qatar. QNA
