Doha, Qatar: Qatar elevated its security level twice on Friday morning, July 17, 2026, as its armed forces intercepted a number of aerial attacks, one of which resulted in a shrapnel injury to a child.

The Ministry of Interior sent out two alerts at around 3:30 am and then another at approximately 5:45 am, which was followed by confirmation from the Ministry of Defense stating that it had intercepted a number of aerial attacks targeting the country.

Following the first alert, the Ministry of Defense said its forces had intercepted a missile attack, with another post on X after the second attack added that it had intercepted a number of aerial attacks.

The Ministry of Interior, following the first interception, said a child was receiving medical care for a shrapnel injury sustained during the interception operations. It also added that its Civil Defense teams had initiated approved response plans following the Iranian attack targeting the country.

The Ministry stressed the importance of refraining from circulating rumors or publishing unverified information, photos, or video clips to avoid legal accountability.
