DOHA: Katara will host several cultural events in line with Italian National Day celebrations next month.
Italian Ambassador Guido De Sanctis presented cultural events and activities at a recent meeting with Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti.
Dr Al Sulaiti said cultural events will be held on the Katara corniche on the occasion of Italian National Day in June, adding there are plans to organise Italian opera as well as art and photography exhibitions featuring Italian artists.
“By hosting cultural events from other countries, we want to present to the public a variety of cultures and create an environment for cultural interaction which matches with our aim of bringing different cultures together and introducing our national identity,” he said.
De Sanctis praised Katara and its architecture which brings together the past and the present and makes Katara one of the destinations for tourists coming to Qatar.
He also praised Katara’s efforts to activate cultural relations between countries and stressed strong bilateral relations between Qatar and Italy, adding both sides are keen to strengthen relations in various areas, including the cultural field.
