DOHA: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will be the Guest of Honour at the Qatar University Class of 2014 men’s graduation ceremony today at Qatar National Convention Centre.
H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice-Chairperson of the Supreme Education Council, will honour women students at their ceremony tomorrow.
All 1,200 QU graduates in the academic year 2013-2014 will receive degree certificates, including those who graduated in Summer and Fall 2013 and those expected to graduate in Spring and Summer 2014.
The ceremonies will be led by QU President Prof Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad, attended by vice-presidents, deans, faculty, graduates and their families, alumni and guests.
QU Vice-President for Student Affairs Dr Omar Al Ansari congratulated the graduates on their success. “This is not the end of your journey but the start of a new and exciting phase in your life. You are ready to embark on your future and contribute to your country’s bright tomorrow, utilising knowledge, skills and experience you acquired at Qatar University,” he said.

DOHA: The Minister of Transport H E Jassim Seif Ahmed Al Sulaiti will head a Qatari delegation to International Transport Forum which begins in Leipzig, Germany, tomorrow.
Transport ministers, senior officials, representatives of the government and business sectors as well as international, academic and media organisations are taking part in the three-day event. It aims to reduce congestion, energy use and CO2 emissions in means of transport and enhance new technological practices in the transport sectors, including high-tech smart systems. It will discuss challenges facing transport systems, including urban growth, change in population structure in many countries and the need for sustainable logistic services and efficiency of transport and cargo systems. An exhibition will feature the adoption of new frameworks in support of innovation by encouraging the use of the most sophisticated eco-friendly transport modes.
Doha: Staff Major-General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, Director-General, Public Security, met Tunisian Director-General of National Security, Muhammad Emad Al Ghazbani, and his delegation. They discussed cooperation and issues of common interest.
