Brussels: The Arab League today called for intensified international efforts to accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza Strip, ensuring it meets the needs of all residents, and for the immediate launch of early recovery and reconstruction programs.
This came in a speech delivered by Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector Ambassador Faed Mustafa, during the ninth meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. The meeting was hosted by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brussels.
Mustafa stressed the need to pressure Israeli occupation authorities to halt their ongoing violations and aggression against the Palestinian people, as well as repeated breaches and attacks in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. He emphasized that enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination, through ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only path to achieving peace, security, and stability in the region.
The meeting featured discussions and exchanges among representatives of participating countries and organizations on advancing the implementation of the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and moving forward with the two-state solution.
The ninth meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held with the participation of delegations from around 80 countries and international organizations, comes as part of sustained international momentum to promote prospects for a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace based on the two-state vision and the realization of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
