Qatar players clear first hurdles in Abu Dhabi.
Doha: Qatar players registered victories in their opening matches at the Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival Championship, yesterday.
Qatar’s Abdullah Al Hamid defeated Tajik Sharifi Mansour while Rayan Irfan prevailed over Moroccan Youssef Muhammad in his opening match. In the Masters event, Hussein Aziz beat India’s Aditya Varun Gamba in his first round match.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Khaled Al Jamaat and Ibrahim Al Janahi reached Abu Dhabi yesterday to participate in the Blitz Chess event. Over 1,000 male and female players representing 54 countries are taking part in the event.
