RAWALPINDI: The government in Pakistan’s Punjab province has sanctioned posts of 200 female sanitary patrols demanded by the District Health Department to prevent a possible outbreak of dengue fever in the region yet the process for their induction could not be started so far.
Within 24 hours after receiving sanction of the new posts of 200 female sanitary patrols, the district health department this week submitted advertisement to the office of Director General Public Relations Department Punjab as per recruitment policy. The new posts have been sanctioned by the Punjab chief minister.
The last date for submission of applications in the advertisement submitted to the provincial PR department was mentioned as May 23 and as per rules, the advertisement should have been appeared in media till May 8 giving at least 15 days to the applicants for submission of their interest.
When the district health department contacted concerned officials at the provincial PR department to know status of the advertisement, it was informed that the advertisement could not be published, as the PR department does not have a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the chief minister on the subject.
The district health department requested the provincial health department in December last year to provide it services of 200 female sanitary patrols that were supposed to be deployed in the district at least in the beginning of February this year to prevent breeding of larvae of ‘aedesaegypti’, the vector that causes dengue fever.
