H E Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, Minister of Sports and Youth, with the connection of Sealine after Wathnan Racing's eight-year-old horse won the Late Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Al Thani Trophy at Al Uqda Racecourse yesterday.
Doha: H E Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, Minister of Sports and Youth, crowned the winners of the Late Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Al Thani Trophy after Wathnan Racing’s Sealine (Qatar), trained by Alban Elie De Mieulle, was ridden to the prestigious victory by almost a head length in the 1500m feature of Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club’s (QREC) 20th Race Meeting on turf at the Al Uqda Racecourse yesterday.
Ronan Thomas also rode Equinoxe (QA) to win for trainer Alban de Mieulle in the 2000m contest for 3YO+ Local Thoroughbreds, landing the Halul Island Cup (National Day Cup).
Earlier, the Mohammed bin Hamad Khalifa Al Attiyah-owned and trained Lauderdale (IRE) won the Al Busayyir Cup as he ran out a half-length winner of the 1600m Conditions for 3YO+ Thoroughbreds under jockey Szczepan Mazur.
The Osama Omer Al Dafea-owned and trained Taxiwala (IRE) completed a double on his third start this term, winning the Falcon Cup under Ronan Thomas in the 1200m Conditions for 3YO+ Thoroughbreds.
Meanwhile, the Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki-owned and trained In The Night (IRE) added his fourth straight victory to his impressive record as he won the Gr3 Al Safliya Cup, a 2350m race for 3YO+ Thoroughbreds, with three lengths to spare under Tomas Lukasek.
