Transportation sector progressing at an accelerated pace: Minister

The Minister of Transport H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti stressed that National Day is a cherished annual occasion in which all renew their resolve and insistence on completing the ancestral path to build a modern state that looks forward to the future and adheres to its heritage and past.

The celebration of National Day is a clear embodiment of the bonds of love and the solid values of interdependence between the Qatari people and the wise leadership.

In exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Minister said that National Day is an occasion that makes everyone proud of belonging to this generous country. Its rich history was established by the fathers and grandfathers on this blessed land, foremost of which is the late founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.

On this occasion, His Excellency and all the employees of the Ministry of Transport extended sincere congratulations to the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani,  Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Deputy Amir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani and to the wise government and the honorable people of Qatar.

The Minister said that the Ministry of Transport looks forward every year to reaching a new achievement through which all can fulfill the obligations of the nation.  He noted that the transportation sector, thanks to the support provided by the wise leadership, is progressing at an accelerated pace of development in all fields, and the ministry will continue to develop plans and work programs to achieve sustainability for this vital sector to achieve a prosperous future for the country’s economy and for future generations.

The Minister stressed that the Ministry of Transport continues to supervise land, sea, and air transportation, works to develop and improve transportation services, studies economic projects and serves national development requirements. The ministry also monitors compliance with the technical performance standards of the entities and companies licensed to practice transportation activities, traffic movements and proposes traffic safety initiatives, in coordination with the competent authorities, supervising marine and air activities, issues licenses and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations and systems, and supervises meteorological activities.
