28-year-old succumbs to Covid-19 as Qatar reports 243 cases on Nov 16

Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today recorded 243 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 226 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 133,010.

Out of the 243 new cases, 188 are community cases and 55 from travellers returning from abroad.

Ministry also announced one death - aged 28 - who was receiving the necessary medical care.

So far, 235 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 136,028 and there are 2,783 active cases under treatment.

5013 people were tested for the first time in the last 24 hours (10072 tests in total) taking the total tests done so far to 1,053,841 tests.

There are 33 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total patients in the hospital to 270.

Two patients were admitted to intensive care due to health complications resulting from infection with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 35.

All new cases have been placed in isolation and are receiving necessary health care according to their health status.

While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:

- Adherence to physical distancing

- Avoid close contact with others, crowded places, and confined closed spaces where other people congregate

- Wearing a face mask

- Washing hands regularly
